Energy Trader/Scheduler

It is the responsibility of a Gas Scheduler to buy monthly base load natural gas and buy/sell daily spot natural gas to the residential, commercial and industrial customer books. The incumbent is also responsible for scheduling gas on multiple pipeline systems including nominations, confirmations, system and pool balancing, imbalance trading and reconciliation of receipt and delivery volumes.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain multiple spreadsheets containing information regarding scheduled volumes, usage, supply, storage plans and profit and losses from gas trading activity
  • Read multiple daily industry publications and market reports to stay informed about conditions currently impacting the energy market
  • Determine volume and price requirements for monthly base load gas and execute trades to acquire supply
  • Schedule gas on multiple pipeline systems including nominations, confirmations, system and pool balancing, imbalance trading and reconciliation of receipt and delivery volumes
  • Communicate with counterparty traders and schedulers to exchange information relating to pricing, volume, delivery points, upstream and downstream contracts and scheduled volumes
  • Communicate with Energy Supply Director and other gas and power traders/schedulers to discuss trading strategies, market opportunities, physical and financial constraints and profit and loss metrics

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Engineering or Finance preferred
  • Persistence and tenacity to engage willingly in problem solving
  • Must be a fast learner and desire working in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively internally and with external contacts
  • Minimum 1 year experience in energy related field, preferably in energy scheduling, finance, accounting or engineering
